Kindness 101: A look at leadership

Our Kindness 101 lesson was about leadership. Students saw a beautiful video about a middle school boy that was at a skate park with his friends when they saw a five-year-old boy skating alone.
The middle school boy went up to the boy to help him skateboard. His friends saw him and followed him to play with the young boy. The middle school boy was being a leader in kindness. To this day, the two children still have a beautiful friendship. As a class, students discussed how we could be leaders. They also discussed how being “bossy” is not the same as being a good leader. They learned that helping others, speaking nicely to friends, and showing friends what to do are all qualities of a good leader.  They decided as a group to write letters of appreciation to our principal Mrs. Davis for her leadership.
